Passchendaele: Opens Oct 17th

Actor Paul Gross and co-star Caroline Dhavernas stopped by the BOB FM studio this morning to chat about the movie 'Passchendaele'. Opening across Canada on Oct 17th, 'Passchendaele' was written, produced, and directed by Paul Gross. The film has received excellent reviews (it premiered on opening night of the Toronto Film Festival), and is essentially a love story which culminates in a stunning battle scene; Canadian troops' historic victory in World War I's Battle for Passchendaele'. Take the 'ho-hum' out of your life - Adopt a Cat!!!

Add some companionship and fun into your life! One of the best ways I can think of.....would be to adopt a cat! Pictured below, are kittens Jellybean and Wally, and their Mom, 'Black Betty'!
Betty was found wandering the streets of Kemptville and gave birth in her foster home. She is now ready for adoption, along with her 2 babies. They are sweet, playful, and looking forward to a new home! Contact Wendy at 613-224-2562, or contact www.countrycatrescue.com, a wonderful cat rescue organization that is currently offering a 2 for 1 special on kittens.

Corteo Amazes!

World famous 'Cirque Du Soleil' has come back to amaze Ottawa once again. 'Corteo' is playing now through late October 'under the Grand Chapiteau' at St Laurent Centre, (in the parking lot just west of the Centre on Coventry Road). I had the chance to attend a full show sneak preview last night, and it was absolutely incredible. The ultimate combination of art and athletics, 'Corteo' is stunning. Here are some photos from the show, which really don't do it justice. Take the whole family - they'll love it!

No Relation to Mike Duffy

One of my favourite new artists is DUFFY...she's a wicked singer from Wales. I caught her video for the song 'Mercy' then went straight to the record store to buy her CD, called 'Rockferry'. I've played it over and over again ... I think her dusty voice is amazing and she's channeling music that wouldn't be out of place in the 60's. But its all original, and she writes her own stuff (yay!!) . She's coming to the Metropolis in Montreal on Friday Oct 24th, tickets are on sale now www.metropolismontreal.ca. You might want to catch her before she's too popular to play a small club!
Check out some of Duffy's music and videos here:

Dart Showdown!!

Its a dart showdown! So get your darts ready and start practicing somewhere safe. I know nothing about darts but I do know that if you OWN your own darts, you must be good! Experienced or not, its a great time at the annual 'Dart Showdown' for the Canadian Hearing Society, Thursday Oct 2nd at the Lone Star Cafe (St Laurent location). Its just $35.00 per person ($140 for a team of four), which includes round-robin darts and a delicious Lone Star buffet, plus auction and prizes. JR, Hammer and I will be there, trying to get the darts somewhere near the dartboard. Hammer's team, which he invites anyone to join, will be called 'Phil the Power Taylor', a result of an exhaustive internet search to steal the name of the best dart player on the planet. JR's team, which he invites anyone to join, will be called 'What's the Point'? Which, as he points out, is a very clever play on words. My team may or may not be the Screaming Hellfish, it depends on whether or not my past team-mates show up. Register your team now, call the CHS at 613-521-0509 or go to www.chs.ca.

Oasis, Ryan Adams and 7000 camera phones

A great time was had by all (I'm pretty sure, except for maybe some of the security people) at the Ryan Adams and Oasis concert Thursday night. What more could an audience ask for: Ryan Adams was in a good mood, and Liam and Noel Gallagher didn't get into a fight. Here are some pic's from the show!
